About
1. Attorney background:
I am an entrepreneur and qualified attorney with over 15 years work experience as an attorney.
I hold the degrees BLC (cum laude) and LLB (cum laude) from the University of Pretoria, as well as post-graduate degree in Publishing which included subjects such as Design & Production, Information Technology and Publishing Management. I also completed SAIIPL Level 1 exams.
I served articles at a big firm and started my own small law firm under the name De Kock Attorneys in February 2005. De Kock Attorneys specialised in all aspects of intellectual property law and entrepreneurial law, and served local and foreign clients.
After 11 successful years, I sold the assets of De Kock Attorneys to a medium-sized law firm in March 2016, which I joined as Consultant for 3 months, to assist with transfer and smooth handover.
2. Personal background:
I am currently a non-practising attorney and founded Emmie de Kock Coaching & Consulting (a sole proprietor business) in March 2017.
I have passion for helping entrepreneurs and attorneys forward. As I know what it takes and involves to start a business, grow a business, and later sell it, I would like to assist other attorneys and entrepreneurs on this journey to enjoy great success.
I am married and have two wonderful daughters in primary school. I mainly work from my home office in Midstream, Gauteng. Some of my other interests include pets, writing, visual arts, performing arts, photography and exercise walking.
3. Ethics and Coaching competence:
As I have over 15 years experience as an attorney, I combine my law experiences with my coaching, and continue to respect and follow ethical standards of the legal profession where applicable.
I have completed Modules 1, 2 and 3 of the 6 month Business Coaching course presented by SA Business Coaches. I have signed the SA Business Coaches Code of Ethical Conduct, which is based on the ethical standards of the International Coaching Federation (the “IFC”) and Coaches and Mentors of South Africa (“COMENSA”). For a referral on my business coaching competence, you are welcome to contact Mr Neale Roberts at www.sabusinesscoaches.co.za.
In particular, I undertake to keep sessions with clients confidential.
4. Coaching style:
My ideal coaching assignment relates to any business or career aspect relating to small-medium sized businesses, franchises, or attorney practices.
Although the coaching sessions are structured discussions, normally after discussions around your particular needs and required outcomes, you are encouraged to bring your own agendas, while I will continue to hold the coaching session safe, and on track, to help move you forward in actions and thinking.
I selectively use coaching tools which help heightening my clients’ awareness, in particular, of alternative options, opportunities and solutions. In course of the coaching process, I accept that you are the expert in your particular business and will lead you to create your own solutions, which you will own.
In today's busy work environment, I aspire to create space and time for clients in sessions in order to assess, plan and reflect on their work and personal life. I aim to create a confidential and supportive environment that enable my clients to achieve their goals and best results.
Having been a sole owner in a law firm for over 11 years, I appreciate that it can get lonely “at the top” and that a confidential and supportive sound boarding or brainstorming partner could assist with moving through difficult times in business.
My coaching relationship with my clients is professional, based on trust and intimacy, as conversations take place in confidence, and without judgment.
My coaching sessions is centred and customised around your needs. I care about my clients and is motivated by my clients’ successes.
5. Coaching contracts:
In line with the coaching competencies prescribed by the IFC, I will present written contracts for signing, prior to starting coaching sessions, to govern the coaching relationship, and to avoid uncertainty, and clarify the parties’ roles and responsibilities.
Cost of the services are fixed and will depend on the coaching packages that you or your Sponsor select.
Emmie de Kock Coaching & Consulting is not a VAT vendor and costs therefore exclude VAT.
